Naughton was a product of Sheffield United's academy before breaking into their first team in 2008, transferring to Tottenham Hotspur the following year. He made his Spurs non-competitive debut against Barcelona in the 2009 Wembley Cup which ended in a 1–1 draw. He came on as a substitute in the 94th minute in the match against West Ham
